My 66 Jazz has "Oval" machine heads instead of clovers..... is this the only year they used 'em? I also reccomend bad vintage P-ups get fixed by Lindy Frailin... sweet work Indeed.

I couldn't find anything online about it, but my friend owned one ( sadly traded for an 1980 Rick) with the oval keys. It was also a '66.

Fender used the oval machine heads from 1966 until about 1969, so they are quite rare! My 1966 CS Jazz also has the oval machine heads.

Also the Noel Redding model had the oval keys, though it was supposed to be a '65. Did he replace them himself?
