I have been lucky to find a great example of a Mex Jazz 5 string, but I dont like the look of the tuners. Nothing wrong with them, they work fine but I wouldn't mind changing them to a more traditional elephant ear type if I could find any that would fit. I wonder if anyone here has any experience or suggestions.
Thanks in anticipation
Andy

I do not know of an elephant ear/clover type tuner that will fit the 5-INLINE tuner MIM headstock.

5-in-line headstocks with clover tuners were common on US-made 5-stringers between 1998 and late 2001.

The USA ones don't fit unless you dowel and redrill the holes.

I like DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams but the heaviest gauge they make is 45 - 105. I now use Curt Mangan Stainless Steel Wound Medium Plus. The gauge is 55 - 110. They last as long as any string I have used and because the gauge is a little heavier, I get a nice fat sound that still has a lot of punch and cuts through the mix. They are also less expensive than DR. I have a deal with them and buy direct for about 50% off retail. I just purchased 4 sets for $48 including shipping. Check them out.
