I am in the process of p/u a Jaco tribute bass next week. My question is? I have been using a Squier Mod Jazz fretless and I swithched out the Duncan pup's and installed Fender Vintage Custom Shops. Should I switch the the Jaco bass pup's in which they say in the specs are Vintage pup's with the C/S's?

Thanks....Steve

I would not change one screw on it. If you don't like it the way it is, don't buy it. Any change, even one solder joint will move it from the collector class to player class which is long term quite costly. If you plan to keep it forever and never ever ever sell or trade it, then that won't matter.

FYI, the OP means the Fender Jaco Bass (the regular production line bass), not the Custom Shop Tribute Relic Jaco Jazz.

That said, before you go make plans to mod the bass, play it for a while. You'l probably like what you hear. The standard Jaco Basses are great basses in their own right.

I agree with you Bassclef........I love my Jaco (Artist model) Fretless bass & I wouldn't change a thing on it :) I also love the neck & Pickups as is .........keep it stock bluzzy8 :)
or save up for a Custom Shop Tribute if thats what you really want..........& as I posted on another thread regarding the Jaco bass ......I've played both models & I personally prefer the Standard Artist model....but thats me.
