I have a '96 MIJ fretless J-bass, and I want to upgrade the bridge. I'm getting buzz, especially on the G-string, from the saddles sliding around.

I noticed the Fender American Standard and American Deluxe bridges have grooves for each saddle to eliminate the side-to-side movement, but they have a 3-screw pattern, and my MIJ jazz has a 5-screw pattern. Will they drop in using the middle and outer holes of the 5-screw pattern, or do they require drilling (which I'd rather not do)?

The other option I'm considering is the Hipshop Vintage - I have a Hipshot A-Style on my Modulus and love it, but want something more vintage looking and feeling on the Jazz.

Any insights are much appreciated!

Three screw bridges won't fit the existing holes. A 5 screw Fender option:

Fender VINTAGE BASS BRIDGE. Fender part number 0990804100. It has thread grooved saddles, which restricts lateral movement.

Fender '75 RI Bass Bridge. Fender part 0055257000. It has one string slot centered on each saddle.
