I am considering putting Strap Locks on my AM STD J and I was wondering if anyone knows of a set that are a direct replacement. I don't want to drill if I don't have to. Can I get a little help guys?

Any of the major strap lock companies products will screw right in. Just unscrew the existing strap button and then screw in the strap lock with the screw they provide. That simple.....

Yes, A very simple procedure. I will say that with the Schaller strap locks, I always use the original screw as the new ones always seem too thin/small. FWIW I have the Schallers on both my Fenders and have had zero problems.

Cool, thanks guys. I bought the schallers yesterday and they should be here this week. I thought i was going to have to drill and do all of that junk, what a relief!

FWIW the Fender straplocks shown here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=420534
Are the same as the Schallers. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=360389

But with the Fender set, you get 4 felt washers.

I would make sure they are not like the fender ones, as they will cause concerns by coming loose.

The old trick I use is putting tooth pick in the hole, break it, put a drop of wood glue, then put the screws in, let it dry before you attatch the strap buttons, it should stick and not come out. I have to do 'em now on my '87, last time I did it was in '89 when I got the original strap locks for it (Schaller). Yep, they last that long.

Yea, thats the way i fixed my 07 deluxe but you would think you wouldnt have to do that with a new guitar, a little disapointing other than that, the guitar rocks.
