I got my new Highway One Jazz bass Friday. The thing plays and feels great. I took it in Saturday to get a set up done...to a place I haven't been before. The guy that usually does it for me at a local shop here wasn't in so I thought I'd take it to a different shop just to get it done right away.
The guy set it up and did a really good job but before he closed the case he told me the neck has a slight twist. He said it may be okay but keep an eye on it. He didn't show me how he found the twist...just the area he thought had a twist.
Driving home I was in a little bit of a panic wondering what I was suppose to do. I bought it from a store in Fort Worth and I'm close to St. Louis. I just couldn't imagine the thing having a twist in it. USA made plus a graphite reinforced neck? Anyway, yesterday after work I took the bass to the guy here in town that does my set ups usually. He eye-balled a few times, used a straight edge I don't know how many times and found nothing put a perfect neck. He did say it was set up great though. Another guy that teaches guitar lessons and does repairs/set ups came in. We had him check it out. After eye balling it and doing some measurements then playing it he said it was the best playing bass he's played. No problem with the neck. Last but not least, the owner came in and he checked it out. Same thing...everything looked great.
I'm not sure what the 1st guy saw but I think I'm going with what the 3 guys here told me. I watched them check it out.
Anyway it's a nice looking bass and sounds really good. It's the honey blonde color. I'm thinking of putting a brown tort pickguard on it. Anyone have a Highway One with a brown tort? If so maybe I can see a picture?
I know this was a long winded story but I just wanted to share it. I'll post some pics of mine when I get a little time. Thanks.
