I think I want my rumble in the wood. The badass does change the sound a bit. AND not for much better and for the worse in some cases (because you just spent 60 and it didn't do squat for the bass). I didn't want to say that because people just love those bridges and I don't want to sound like a hater. I think it's years of hype and those bridges make bucks for the music store owners.. so of course they are going to get pushed hard and they get sold. Now people have a hard time finding them and they are jonesing for one. I've had 15 of those bridges and ended up with none. But that's me once again. Geddy put a badass on his bass and BOOM !!!!!!!!!!!!!

In that case, ppl have been "hyping" the BA bridge for almost 35 years now. It's not true that the BA changes the sound for the worse, and that the original roller bridge beats anything in the world. If there's something wrong with the original bridge, ppl can stomp their feet and get red-faced that it's NOT the bridge - in my case it was! The rollers weren't accurate enough in intonation for my custom built fretless. The BA was. Simple as that. And especially on my fretless the extra sustain DOES matter. Also I've had a lot of buzz from Fender bridges, not from my BA. I also have a US standard string-through, and it has 5 screws - from 99'. Today all new Fenders I've seen have 5 screws - MIM and MIA alike. Hey guys, tastes differ - some like the 70's sound of the Dimarzio, some like the vintage sound of Duncan - some like the original pups. I think what matters is whether they work properly or not. Jazzies sound SO individual, and that's part of what we like about them isn't it? :-) Peace.
