It's nothing that you haven't said before Bro. Dave, it is an awesome looking bass.

By the way, Happy New Year all!

That neck is gorgeous. Obviously we know for sure where the best wood goes don't we? I've never seen a finer Fender 5 J-Bass.

Played our gig last night with it. I was in bass heaven! It plays as nice as it looks. I felt very comfortable with it and it's so easy to play. I had no problems covering my mistakes!

I wish I knew how to take better pics. The neck is what really draws everyone's attention. after that they notice the finish.

After about an hour our sound man told me I needed to pick up my old bass and play it??? :?: Then he said it wants to get the new bass packed up and ready to take home! He's well experienced, traveled alot running sound for some very good bands. He wanted off the road so he settled here and opened a little studio. For some reason he likes us, so now he can still get out run sound, only closer to home. Anyway, he told me he never heard a better sounding bass. He said the notes just "rolled" through the board so nice and easy.

An old man called me aside during a break and gave me some very nice compliments, including how much he liked the sound of my bass. He named 3 or 4 old country stars he claimed to have played keyboards and rhythm guitar with. I don't know if he actually did or not, but we talked music for about 5 or 10 minutes and he knew his stuff. So that will probably be one compliment I'll remember.

I think being that you and I were instrumental in him getting HIS DREAM BASS, we should at least get something, I'll settle for some Head Country Barbecue Sauce.

No! I got a phone call and they said a new driver thought my address was a post office box, he made a wrong turn in Pittsburgh and is now somewhere between Kentucky and Wisconsin according to his last phone call.

WOW!! what an ordeal....glad you got the bass, (awesome looking bass...) & with regard to having several basses....I get a little flak from people (mostly women) who don't understand why I have 6 basses.....
(4 Jazz basses, 1 Precision bass & 1 Ibanez acoustic bass.) I tell people the basses are all individually set up with different pick ups & electronics & they all play differently...

This usually makes them go.......Oh? wow I didn't know this :P
Anyway that being said I've been eyeing a New Black American Deluxe P-bass with maple neck to bass #7
(if I get this bass it definately will be the final addition to my arsenal....) :D
well probabably :?
AAHHHH!! who am I kidding...LOL

grho50 - Glad that you got it in one piece from FedUp - Also, thanks for the report / testing.

Was the string-to-fretboard height setting OK for your style or did you have to adjust things a bit?

Actually the set is really close to what I have on my '92 Jazz, only better.
I didn't have to touch a thing. Action is very low with no fret buzz at all. Plays great.
The neck is straight as an arrow and the 12th+ frets play just as easy as the 3rd.
I just need to work on where I want to set the sound. Good variety, just need to dial in what i like best.
Hope this helps.
