Hello everyone, I have a 2007 Fender MIM Deluxe active that I am currently doing some upgrading to. I thought of upgrading the preamp to the (pre 2010) american deluxe preamp and looked into buying the pcb assembly and wiring it myself. I noticed that they appear to be the same part# however the one on the American is wired to 18v. Would it be possible to convert my existing preamp to 18v ? On bestbassgear.com I found a diagram http://www.bestbassgear.com/ebass/tips/ ... ystem.html
Could it be the easy to do? I realize however I will have to route my battery compartment a little deeper but can do this no problem. Does anyone know if this will work?

Converting is easy. The tricky part is to know whether or not the intended preamp can tolerate it for although it may be the same part number, the specs could have changed. You're better off directly asking Fender Customer Service your question.

On a related matter, you might want to consider some of EMG's bass preamp products too.
