The serial # lookup feature doesn't list the MODEL NAME for my 1990's bass.
I can't remember the model that I bought(!) And I know that when I search for another bass that I own it also gives the model name.

Bass was made around 94-95 (N5 + serial #) American Made.
black with white pearloid pickguard
Active electronics with the mid boost (3 big knobs, 1 small)
It was an American Deluxe or Active Deluxe or something like that...

Any way to confirm?

Thanks!
Mark

This work for a Telecaster in French section

Remove the pickgard or electronics chrome plate if a P bass and on body cavity you'll see a code bar and number that tell everything on Google or Fender web site.

number look like 019-0460-700

Without seeing a photo from the control setup description alone I'm just GUESSING...but sounds a lot like a 1995 Jazz Bass Deluxe. This was the debut year for this model. So it could not be a 1994 model. They came out in July of 1995. If that is the model you have then it should have 22 frets instead of 20 and also have the reshaped non-universal 9 screw pickguard. The name of this model changed in 1998 to American Deluxe Jazz Bass.

brotherdave - I think everything you are saying is correct from my recollection! And yes, there are 22 frets. awesome.

stratele52 - I am going to take your suggestion as well and put all of these pieces together. Your English was better than my French!

thanks again!

Hello everyone. Looking to find the value of my bass. I have a Fender Jazz Bass Made in Japan s/n A013067. I have learnt that the "A" series is a 1985-1986 please tell me if I am correct. My bass is in what I say perfect condition with no scratches, dents or any other flaws. Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes likely an 85/86 model. Made by Fuji String Instrument Production Corporation (now known as Fujigen.) Fuji opened in May 1960 initially manufacturing violins and quickly switched to classical guitar production. In 1962 electric guitar construction was started. Fujigen has a reputation for excellent quality and craftsmanship so the guitars they produce are highly regarded. They produce guitars via OEM for famous brands such as Ibanez, Epiphone, Yamaha and of course Fender, G&L and others.

Japanese Fenders are highly regarded for wood selection, fit and finish but lesser regarded for their electronics which are often inferior to the USA Standards.

As for value, we need to know the specific model and see photos. There were some 75 Vintage Reissues and also Jazz Bass Specials made in Japan that year. Also we need to know what modifications have been made.
