Hi All,

I just got my new Marcus Miller Signature and I'm wandering what type of strings and the gauge they shipped with?

Thanks in advance,

ClaudeH

I have a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass ( LOVE IT !! great Playing Bass!!) I did find it interesting or rather ..... it was one of those things that makes you go Hmmmm??

The Marcus Bass comes with Fender Super Bass 7250 ML (45, 65, 80, 100) guage strings (I'm pretty sure this Bass used to come with 7250M (45, 65, 85, 105) guage strings
& that being said Marcus uses his Sigature DR Fat Beam MM- 45 (45, 65, 85, 105) guage strings

They're good strings (I've used them)....just a little pricey ($32.00 for a set here in Vancouver, B.C. Canada )
I currently use Rotosound Roundwound RB-45 (45, 65, 85,105) guage strings on most of my basses, they're good strings and average $23.00 a set. (Canadian Dollars....they're probably a little cheaper in the states)

I use Fender Super Bass 8250/5M NPS (45, 85, 65, 105, 130 ) guage Taper wound strings on my 2011 American Deluxe Jazz Bass 5 string.......I gotta say I really like these strings especially the taper wound B & E strings...lots of punch....... IMO

I use Fender Sainless Steel Flatwound 9050M (55, 70, 90, 105 ) guage strings on my Jaco Fretless Jazz Bass.

It's "gauge" - not "guage".
Marcus plays mostly DR strings, and recommends both Hi Beams and his signature set (what a surprise :-). When I bought my MM 4, I got rid of those Fender low-budget nickel 7250 asap, and put a signature set on. They're really nice playing. A little too zingy-clangy when just mounted, but break-in time is rather fast, and they soon get a little mellower.
If you go to Marcus's official homepage, he has replied to a lot of Q's on the FAQ site about his choice of strings, amps, settings etc etc.
It's an awesome bass. All I did to make her fly was to let my guitar tech do the usual shielding/proper ground wiring (fender doesn't bother to), and to lower the strings and get the intonation right, which is very easy with the BadAssII.
I often play mine bypassing the pre amp (in true bypass mode) - love the sound! I use a Boss Octave 3, a Danelectro chorus, and a RIot EQ stomp - through a TC Electronic BG500, with slight compression and everything else in flat. Enjoy your MM :-)

I found Marcus Miller's website very informative, I especially enjoyed reading the article on how he & Fender collaborated on making the Marcus Miller Jazz 5 string bass.
it's a site worth checking out... :)
