hi guy's, i recently bought 2006 fender standart(mexican) jazz bass.
i checked my bass guitar serial number and its made in 2006.
behind my bass headstock there's a sticker of "60 to fender"--its not fake!
clearly its an anniversary bass guitar.
my question is that if the 06 anniversary basses Manufacturing
is better than regular f. mexi. jazz bass,i mean maybe they put
better wood or better electronics or pickups because its anniv. bass

here's a picture of the sticker

My 2006 standard telecaster has the same thing, as did everything fender made that year, its not out of the ordinary or anything, but thats not to say its not still a great instrument.

I have the American made version of this bass, mine has up-grades with the p-ups,nut and fret work more detailed, nicer cut of wood for the see thru sunburst finish, abalone position markers and a few other worthless belss and whistles.
The Mex version should(should)have american made pick-ups and a better fit and finish, there's not really much room to work with when adding some bells and whistles on a bass that sells for 500.00$ ,but there ARE a few little gifts on this model opposed to the standard model,I dig mine BIG TIME-the S-1 switch make the bass kick arse.

Every FENDER instrument made in 2006 got that small stainless steel medallion on the back of the headstock.

There were also LIMITED EDITION DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY SERIES instruments of both MIM and USA origin. They were BLIZZARD PEARL colored and the MIM's have a limited edition anniversary neckplate while the USA ones have an anniversary serialized neckplate and come in a special platinum colored anniversary G&G Fender hardcase. These LIMITED EDITION DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY models were the MIM's that had USA pickups. Not all 2006 MIM Fender basses got USA pickups, just the limited anniversary series. Most of the USA ones are in the hands of collectors.

I personally consider the 2006-2008 or so Standard basses to be the best MIM Fender basses ever in general and the 2006 DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION to possibly the very best MIM Standard basses ever because of the USA electronics. They are definitely worth seeking out if you are looking for a MIM P-Bass or J-Bass.

Yes, I like the 2006 to 2008 model year Standards because they had alder bodies. There really haven't been any substantial changes to the Standard basses since 2006. Today's mystery wood makes the newer Standards somewhat less desirable to me personally.

I strongly caution that you have to judge them individually as the alder body blanks used at Ensenada back then came from Corona after being picked over, so obviously the very best blanks stayed in Corona for Custom Shop and USA regular production instruments but some acceptable ones did go to Ensenada. You can have two 06 MIM Standards side by side and one will sound much better because a better body blank was used to make it. No kidding.

As I mentioned only the MIM Limited Edition 60th Diamond Anniversary Series got the USA pickups. The MIM basses in this series will have the specially engraved commemorative anniversary neckplate. Only the commemorative models got these neckplates.

The USA made Anniversary models are sunburst and easy to spot because of the inlaid faux diamond on the FRONT of the headstock and the engraved and serialized neckplate. I only actually played the Precision version and never actually saw a MIM 60th Limited Edition Anniversary Jazz in person. I've only seen ONE of the USA Jazzes in person and it was owned by a player so I never touched it, but it looked and sounded totally amazing.

All 2006-2008 P's and J's can not be lumped collectively to say they are all great. Some are, and you have to look at several and find the best sounding one.

I think collectively today's MIM basses sound and play fine, I just prefer alder on a Jazz or a modern style P-Bass. One of the better sounding 2006-2008 MIM Standards represents a significant value in the used market right now. Always but always compare them with several others though.

If it has the commemorative neckplate that is a really nice one. USA electronics unless someone messed with it already.
