Hi gang,
As I am sitting by my mail box every day with no other purpose than a meek hope of a Fender 2011 Sunburst V arriving, my mind starts to wonder.
Of course, as any other nerd would do, I scavenge the internet for ANY AND ALL information on this wonder, which will soon be in my hands. Sadly, they say that "soon" in this case is November.
Now, I vaguely remember reading something somewhere about an order number on the basses and that there was a way to "follow" how it's doing, how long expected wait time, number in line, what's being done with it and stuff like that. I am, however, not sure if this was actually Fender offering this or if it was another guitar/bass producer (or if I just dreamt it).
Can someone enlighten me? Is there such a thing for us impatient beings? It would we awesome to go check online and know that "I am now number five in line. Expected wait time is 15 days".
Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Keld.

I am certain that if you spend the cash to order and buy a bespoke Custom Shop instrument, you can get this type of treatment. It isn't likely for the regular production models, because of the handcrafted aspects of the production. Another thing to consider is that employee staffing levels can change with illnesses of other HR problems, suppliers can run behind or run out of product, production machinery can fail or need repair, shippers can experience delays or stoppages depending on where the shipment is headed to, and many other unforeseen problems.

Someone at Fender would have to have computerized real time ordering, production, and inventory control, along with people dedicated to inputting, maintaining, and cataloging every order as it is ordered, produced, and delivered.

It can be done for large scale production, but it isn't inexpensive.

I kinda figured that it was something reserved "for the rich bitches". :)
I have, however, gotten myself a crystal ball. It tells me "sooner than you think". Now, I just hope we're talking arrival of my Deluxe and not the end of the world. If I'm gonna die young(ish) then at least I want to have my bass first.

You need to get in touch with the person or store you ordered it through. Ask them to get you a tracking number if the bass has been assigned a number, or has been shipped out. Fender won't give you the tracking number. The bass is on order through the dealer, or distributer. Not the individual purchaser.

I will try this, sgb465. Thanks. Do you know how to actually track afterwards? I appreciate your help. Ordering a bass guitar and giving me a three month wait time is like waving chocolate cake in front of a fat kid. :/

LOL so right! I just want them to - when they're done perfecting it - hurry the hell up and send it to me! :)

Like I said when I got mine I was told there was absolutely no way to track my axe. I had the store call. I called Fender's Customer Service number everything. I started to call online retailers to see if they had the model I ordered in stock. That actually provided a little help because a couple of them told me the projected date of getting one delivered. But again those dates kept fluctuating.
