...though I'm a man of neither wealth nor taste. :)

I'm Keld, from Denmark.

I've played bass for a handful of years quite some years ago, and picked it up again in february as I got invited to play in a little, local cover band - doing classic rock covers like Santana, Cream, Zeppelin, CCR etc.

Right now I play a cheap(ish) ESP LTD B-55 http://www.thomann.de/dk/espltd_b55blk.htm, and wanted something better.

I have ordered a Fender American Deluxe Jazz V Sunburst, and I am now (im)patiently waiting for it.

I play through a Line6 XTLive effectsboard straight to mixer. Yes, I am aware that haters are gonna hate on the "Real amp vs. Simulations" topic, but I like it and I love that I can change between so many different amp simulations - and that it's so convenient to drag along instead of a ton of gear. :) Right now, my favorite "amp" is an Acoustic 360 simulation, that sounds sooo good. I can't wait to hear it with my new bass and get that "real" John Paul Jones sound.

I hope to learn a LOT about my new best friend, and to be able to pitch in when I get the chance to offer insight on some of the topics here.

Welcome to the Fender Forum Keld! I too use Line 6, but I use their little Studio 110 amp and I can't say enough good about the tone I get from it direct out. Really loud for the size and weight and does fine at rehearsals. I've used it for over 3 years with no problems at all which is sort of surprising as I expect it to fail about the time the warranty ran out. So far it is working like new. I don't like heavy gear anymore either and I don't need it so much with the modern stuff and a good PA with beefy subs. I do use a big right when playing outdoors sometimes, but not always. Depends on the gig.

Everyone will want to see photos of the new bass so be sure to post them!

Looks like a NICE setup, and yes - I'd like one (and a roadie).

I will make sure to post pics of my baby when it arrives. Now, since it's considered "guitar (bass?) porn", should I do nude pics of it (the bass, not me)? :D

The only complaints I have about any type of "Programmable" equipment be it amp modelers or multi-effects is that usually with any that I've tried out I only find one or two presets that I would actually use. It just seems like a waste of money to me to fork over a couple of hundred bucks for something that I only use 2 sounds on.

It's interesting that I tried the Line 6 bass pod and the 2 sounds I liked the most were the presets "For the Love of $" I'm a Huge Anthony Jackson fan and "The Fish" I really dig Chris Squire's tone too and interestingly enough they were both based on either a Fender Bassman or a Dual Showman I can't recall which.

I also prefer pedals as I can switch them on and off as I like on the fly.

Of course these are just my opinions. And you know what they say about those.

Stay Brown,
Rev J

Also Kingkeld, congratulations on working a Mick J quote into the forum, we don't get enough of those.

I was taught to share. So I can help your brother share his toys by providing a home for some of them. Let me know which ones I can play with, please. I only have a Rumble 25, so there's LOTS of room here. And we own the house, so no landlord issues. :D
