WHATEVER Nice Lady says is O.K. with me! I just wonder if the strings that came on your Custom Shop are "regular" strings or if they may be special, never know and I really don't expect a straight answer from fender or Sweetwater, they do restring during their 51 point thing, right?

As far as "hijacking? Nah, we de-railed it!

Shame on you!

According to Sweetwater's & Fender's specs the bass came with Fender 82505M, nickel-plated steel taperwound, .045 - .130. The E & B string are taperwound.

I guess they do the 51 point check. I was told that they would check the bass and polish it, but I know they didn't. At least I know they didn't polish it.
In the picture (saved from Sweetwater's site) below you can see a tiny white spec just to the lower left edge of the neck plate. I noticed it before I bought the bass and it was one of the things I checked first. I wanted to see if it was a flaw in the finish.

It was there when I received the bass. It was a piece of white lint. It easily brushed off. Just holding the bass could have possibly removed it. So I'm kind of doubtful that they did anything to the bass before it shipped.
The COA shows a date of 4/07/11. I received the bass on 12/30/11. I'm guessing that they took the pics as soon as they received the bass from FCS. They probably packaged it up and put on the shelf afterwards and I was the next person to open it up, approx 8 months later.
It's no big deal to me and I'm only speculating. One of those things I'll never know for sure.

I just put a set of EB Cobalts on my 60's Jazz reissue. After a day of practice and one rehearsal with the band I am liking them a lot. They are a lot rougher on the fingers than the D'Adarrio flatwounds they replaced but they really cut through the mix a lot better. We play classic rock and I could never hear myself before.

Currently I'm using DR Fatbeams on my Steve Bailey Jazz. I'm thinking about trying the Bootzillas though. I'm sort of a Jazz/Funk/Jamband guy.
