hi,

so i have what looks to be an exact copy of a fender jazz, in fact its such a good copy i cant actually tell it apart from the real thing, however there is no fender branding on the guitar, only "deville" on the headstock and metal neckplate.

are there any other ways i can check to see if it is a genuine fender (ie. pots) as i have searched high and low on the internet and found no trace of another deville bass.

any help would be much appreciated!

Jack

It's a De Ville mate, a copy of a Fender J.

Agree with Jazz546. That is no Fender, but IT is a cosmetically appealing knockoff though. Looks similar in appearance to a Jay Turser Jazz except for the headstock and neckplate engraving.

There's a crapc load of basses on the market made with Fender licensed pieces but with the company name on the headstock.
Theres a couple I see all the time and they are better than some of the basses they are copying,Bacchus is one for example, good stuff.

+1

If it plays well and sounds good I see no reason to dump it merely because of an undistinguished pedigree.

Seems a shame to sell it if it's a real good copy mate. They are rare!!
