I noticed that the Victor Bailey jazz bass is no longer displayed as one of the Fender jazz basses. Have they stopped making them ?

You're right, Fender discontinued the entire Victor Bailey signature series a couple of months ago. Not only the 5-string model, but also the 4 string versions, fretted and fretless.

The 4 and 5-string acoustic basses were gone, too! 8)

Seems Fender decided to stop making 22-fret bass guitars any more since they introduced the new American Deluxe series models in March 2010.

If you want a Victor Bailey signature electric or acoustic bass, you can order one from the Custom Shop. Otherwise, you're out of luck as Victor's contract with Fender has ended a long time ago.

Hmmmm....Shame they were nice basses, I like the tone Victor got with his Bass on a couple of CD's he did with Larry Coryell & Lenny White.... the trio was called CBW & the CD's titled Traffic & Electric.....check 'em out they great fusion CD's ....Traffic was recorded in a Church basement with one microphone to create a live feeling ( check out Chesky records website to learn more about the process)

yeah so do I but he was using his 67/Pensa Surh basses on those lp's. I had the Vic Sig.5 string for a brief period but it wasn't really knocking me over so needles to say I sent it on it's way. It is a good bass though.

Hi - I bought a 4-string Vic Bailey fretless that's really beautiful. I'm thinking about putting it on eBay now, as my needs have changed and I can't really afford to collect expensive basses :) I have the hard case with all the candy inside - truly one of Fender's nicest packages.
