I have a Squier Affinity Jazz bass. I'm planning to put a P pickup on it.

Obviously I would have to route the body for the new pickup, but will the Hoppus guard fit my bass? I'm happy to drill new holes too.

Thanks :)

I would go with NO,why? Because first its a Indonesian made Fender and the Hoppus is a Mex made signature bass(specifically designed parts for this bass only),all the different Fender models(also different countries of production matter) have different variations in screwhole placements, neck pocket fit, screw hole patterns, and even slightly larger or smaller pickup cutout sizes can vary.
I am sure you can find one to match-up in online guitar part store, like allparts for one,at one time it was next to impossible to get a different pickgaurd for even popular MIM basses but now they can offer one for ANY size or shape bass.
The Hoppus more than likely has its pickup in a different placing as your does(its a custom modification or will be,correct?)if all else fails you can make a template of the design needed and they can make one,or send the old one with the desired routing mocked up and make a copy with that or even route your original one to fit,its all on you and how perfect(or not )it need be.
g/luck

I'd assume that if you don't mind routing for a P pickup, you don't mind drilling holes for the screws. I found that at one point the screws on the Hoppus pickguard don't quite fit in due to the size of the control cavity in the Jazz Bass. I think the end of the neck is shaped differently on the Affinity Jazz, so you might have to reshape the pickguard there.

Just out of curiosity, are you planning on putting on the new style pickguard, or the old? I recently modded my 70's classic Jazz with the reverse P configuration and I really like the way it sounds. So, something to consider.

Good call, but the Hoppus neck is larger (not much but...)and the pickgaurd will be larger too and it may look off a bit cause of the gaps(possibly)I would just look on allparts and goto the p/gaurd section,e-mail them(as i have done)and they will let you know if they could,or if they have one, could make you one or where u can get one.
First place ALLPARTS

I'll bet you can get it to fit, if you don't mind drilling a couple of holes, taking your time with it, and are OK with some cosmetic "off-ness" around the neck heel.

Go to ebay to buy pickguards; more colors and better prices than Allparts.
