My my nice bass, but please take no offense but heres my argument with quality control, you have one of the best basses Fender sells aside from custum shop stuff or special orders correct ? and the graining matches poorly,WTF  is up w/that ??
How hard can it be?its not a question of availability seeing how MIM 60's and 70's classics are as good as a Fender can get in the fit and finish dept and are 700.00$ give or take depending on the finish, this is a what 1400.00$ bass twice the amt new,I dont get which is why I will never buy a Fender sight un-seen new or not,not even a custom shop, you cannot trust them blindly.
Maybe I am more finicky or anal when it comes to MY basses, and I truly hope I did not offend anyone and I wish you much enjoyment with your new bass,I never played this model, only the MIM version which was killer. ENJOY

You answered your own question,ALL the single pieces of wood glued together to make a body DO NOT all have matching grain patterns or one piece has no markings on it while the others do or the wood has dif levels of moisture making the finish seem un-even or lighter or darker in tone.
It's one of the most disappointing things I find on a bass,I could even stand the argument when it comes to lower costing basses;it keeps the cost down by using whats available, but when a 600.00$ MIM Fender has a much better looking sunburst finish on matched graining than a American made bass of any model then somethings wrong.
After selling off my whole bass collection after the divorce I started searching for a bass,ONE bass that would allow me to replicate the Fender tone of both the Precision and the Jazz Bass and settled on buying the US p-bass deluxe,I found one at GC(I know, sorry)on clearence,it was brand-new and with the case was 999.00$,my buddy who works there calls me up when any Fender bass goes on sale or comes in used he will hid it for me,AWESOME right ? NO !
It was my ideal bass, maple neck/fretboard,3 tone sunburst and the older style precision pickup @ neck and a humbucker pickup @ bridge style configuration,EVERYTHING was perfect and then I saw the BODY up close  ,it was 3 seperate pieces, the middle piece had no grain at all and the two most outer pieces had so much grain it looked almost fake(like the photo flame stuff from the 80's)the low price and great sound were not enough for me to overlook the mismatched body,It honestly was that BAD!
Sorry for the ramble but I burns my b($@!) when a 1400.00$ bass has a poorer quality control than the 600.00$ bass does,Whats the justification for the 800.00$ jump in price ?Rolled fingerboard ? abalone fretmarkers ? lightwieght tuners ? detailed nut and fret work ? ...I know; It must be the "DELUXE" case with the "case-candy" in it right ? My point is this: Give us what we pay for,all the prices went up and the quality did not, they just found cheaper ways to do things and its starting to show, the US made basses are fast becoming not worth it to buy anymore, All the "appointments that seperated the Higher priced models are becoming less and less noticable making the newly up-graded budget basses far more desirable. I THINK :? ,excuse me while I get some oxygen, In a nutshell

I saw something horrible last week. On my last trip to GC, there was an American Special sunburst that th grains were opposite of each other, no attempt to even TRY to line them up.

It's a shame to buy an expensive instrument and have shoddy workmanship, especially when it has "Made in U.S.A." on it.

Actually there is a large manufacturing community in China called USA (pronounced Oo-Say). The make almost everything there and stamp it "Made in USA."

See, I'm a magician. I make things disappear. Having trouble with clowns though. They chase me wherever I go. Can't get away and can't make them disappear. What ya gonna do? Call Clown Busters. . .

He disappeared again and took all his posts with him, he has returned in a different name.

This whole thing with shoddy workmanship is getting old, every time I try to make an effort to see what the new models look like, I always end up disappointed. fender must have the same problem as all manufacturers these days. Poor Quality Assurance!

The new philosophy is, just make them, the buying public is expecting less than they got before so let's take a chance, play the odds and ship crap. Most people will keep it, if they return it, so what, we're making them by the thousands, and cheap too!

Make clowns disappear?

You're not a magician, you're a comedian!
