I'm rather fond of DR strings as well, I use Marcus Miller Signatures for my A, D, and G strings, with a Hi-Beam for my low E-string.

Right now I just put on some D'Addario Pro Steels. Medium Gauge. They are super Bright and that's the sound I like. I might try some flats sometime too. The super Brights are awesome sounding on a jazz with vintage pups. They bring out the best in it...to me.

It's time to replace the DR Black Beauties, although I love how they feel, I don't like the peeling paint look on the strings after awhile.

Anyone knows how Fender's 7350M Stainless Steel strings are? I'm willing to try 'em out. I think for $17 it should be a great deal, but I just want to know how good are these strings.

I use the Swing 66 from Rotosound. They are really high quality, and give off a great low E. They really surprised me with their quality. They give me that deep growl when I play hard, and feel great under my fingers!

I've had Rotos, not diggin it. The only ones I really like were the Steve Harris sig, but those were flats IIRC. '

Anyone on the 7350s?

I Getting new strings for a Jazz bass and I would like to know what are the best types for a Fender Jazz bass to get me a good rock sound.

Try these TI flats:

I recently put them on my fretless Jazz and they rock!

I ordered 2 sets of the 7350M. I've been digging the med gauge now, and liking the stainless steel sound too. I'll keep you guys posted on how it sounds.

Well, I keep on breaking my E string. The thick one on a standard jazz for you new players out there. I need to find a set that has a good E in it for me. Any ideas???

How do you break an E string? Are you twisting it when you put it on? I play pretty hard and in 25+ years I've never broken a string except one G string that was defective.

Anyway -- what style of music do you play and are you looking at flats or rounds? You may want to try Juststrings.com as they have virtually every string (not just bass) from every manufactuer in every set guage, and you can order individual strings too.

I've broken an A string on stage once, I just started playing w/a pick due to surgery done to one of my fingers, I couldn't play with my middle finger, didn't realize how much pressure I was using I guess.

Dean Markley Blue Steel Bass Guitar Strings have always worked very well for me. I'm lucky in the fact that I have a low acidity content in my persperation and if I wipe the strings down after each set and at the end of the gig, they seem to last a very long time as compared to GHS Boomers, etc. I hope that helps.

I don't know. I was playing and it just broke down by the bridge. On the saddle. I have broken it twice, and was playing with a pick both times. the first time was on the stock bridge, and the second time was on the badass2 bridge.I was using medium D'Addario strings the first time (Nickel wound) and the second time, some super light off brand strings. The Prosteels are super bright and haven't gotten less bright yet. I think they are a bit too bright now.

I like Rotosound RN66LD's. I used GHS Superboomers before that and liked them a lot,

Sixgun made the comment about gadgets and things, versus technique. I never got into toys before I discovered Sansamp. Now I can have the same sound anytime. through my amps or a board.
