lately i had a lot of noise when playing my bass on different amps
yesterday the sound was terrible again, i checked the amp, changed amps, checked the cables, checked the batteries, nothing happened...

after changing the batteries that were inside the bassguitar, i had no signal to the amp at all...
after a couple of seconds there was sound but it started with a sort of loud bang
i started playing again, but after a little while there was this terrible high pitch squealing sound so i had to stop playing : (

what could be the problem?
i'm not a technician but before bringing the bass to a guitar repair shop i'd love to know
what can be wrong, the pickups? the active buttons?

thanks in advance

Welcome.

Sight unseen, it sounds like you have an intermittently shorting positive wire somewhere, possibly the output wire among the pots.

thanks very much for the info
yes i 'see' what you mean and i'll communicate this with
my guitar mate who's helping me out by checking loose wires and
dirty contactpoints etc.
it sounds like we'd better go to a proper guitar repair shop

thanks again
