I've been wondering about the bass that Matt Sharp (Weezer's original bassist) used, and the info i've found is that it's a Jazz body w/Tele neck and schecter monstertone pups, does fender make any Jazz basses w/ tele necks? and what PUP's would come close to the sound of monstertones?

I doubt it but here's the great thing about mass production. Parts can be easily mixed and matched.

"Blackie" Eric Clapton's main Strat was made from the best parts of 5 different Strats.

"The Bass of Doom," Jaco's main Jazz Bass was a '62 with post '62 volume and tone pots that he ripped the frets out of.

John Entwistle had a Salmon Pink "Frankenbass" that was made out of parts of basses he smashed on stage.

"The Wife" Billy Sheehan's main bass before he switched to Yamaha was a P-bass body, a Telecaster Neck, a Gibson EB1 neck pick up all put together himself.

I think you get the point. If that is the combination that you want I'd suggest getting either a Mexican or Japanese Jazz Bass. Then I'd go to the Warmoth Site and get a Tele neck. Then I'd order the Schecter Pick ups. Then You're cooking with gas.

Stay Brown,
Rev J

The thing about the Schecter pickups is they don't sell them seperately, they only come on custom shop basses D: so i was wondering if there were other pup's that would have similar sound?

What makes them sound so much diff? Schecter is'nt really known to be the end all be all of the pickup dept,so I dont see getting a set of pickups from one of the more well known brands being to much trouble to get the tone your looking for,and personally a set of Fender re-issue pick-ups(even stock US are tonally adiquite) should fit the bill quite nicely.
Stick with the basics of his bass design:Wood and its finish with a decent bridge and hardware coupled with good pick-ups and strings should get you in the ballpark, remember even a bass made exactly the same, next one in line after or made by the same person may never sound JUST like it,Nevermind the style and technique of the individual player on that bass factoring into the mix(mindbending)
GOODLUCK

Most mid line to top of the line Schecter uses EMG 35, HZ model. Soapbar, passive EMGs. The active on Schecter is the electronics, not the pup. So yes, you can get the pup you need from EMG, buy at a store (6 - 9 wk wait) or buy from the on line retailers. Good luck.
