Yesterday I bought a Squier Jazz Bass it has a serial number that starts with "E8" and says in the lable "made in Japan"

I don't know anything really about other than it definatly caught my eyes and ears and I had to have it. I do not play bass yet but will now learn

So I was hoping someone here could shead some light on the beautiful Bass for me.

Japanese basses are'nt as easy to get an exact age date but I had a bass myself that started with these prefixes and it was made from 85-88,the E-series was a 3 year run on those serial numbers and are a good bass that are highly sought after.
I would have done this investigation before I bought the bass but you really cant go wrong with a JAPANESE made Fender unless its either a fake or has a bad neck(not saying your bass is either or)they are now almost as much as American made basses, and most do play as well as or better than most of them from that era and years after as well.
I got my first one in 2003 for $200.00(jazzbass special p/j)then my 83 Squier p-bass for 125.00$, Now you cant even get tuners from one at w/that amount of $$cash,it once was a little known secret by Fender loyalists now the "cat's out of the bag" and everyone from collectors to second hand shops scooped them up and now everyone wants to get rich on them, even the Japanese copies(lawsuit models) are selling for as much as the originals they are imitating and sometimes surpassing quality wise.
LONG STORY SHORT,any pics??? dont tease us

Lawsuit, I got an E I bought new in '89, and it's an '89. It's the 1st yr for a 22 fretter per chromeface. I thought it was an '87 for the longest time.

89 HUH? Liar! Infede! Oh Sorry  An 89 huh? thats wierd but Fender is known for not throwing anything away, could have been a run of serial numbers they never used and not wanting to throw them away..?.
I have worked on some bizaare/rare basses from Japan with odd-ball serial numbers,Like the JV models that were all blacked out(like the contempory models)with dual p-bass pick-ups,some had angled duel p-bass pickups(not straight but mounted on an angle like this> /)some where all white; even the back of the neck, one p-bass had 3 jazz pick-ups mounted like this> / type angle, never saw them before and never again.
So when it comes to odd-ball serials Fender has their share, they need something to match the odd-ball basses they were putting out.Yeah I believe it.

Try posting in the Squier forum and see if you'll get better info from the Squier fanatics.
