Sabre--You said "so in that case, you should like the combo of SPB-3's and Chromes..." after I described my Ampeg. Earlier you said, and I agreed after web research, that the SPR-1 would be the right choice for the vintage sound.

Are you saying the SPB-3 would work better with my rig and the Chromes or am I just confused...happens a lot.

I do appreciate the help.

Sabre-- I wish your son and daughter in law a safe passage out of the area they're in if it needs to be evacuated. I like your plan. I really hope you don't have to put it into action. How far apart are you from them? I'm watching the WChannel right now, and it looks nasty in their area. I'll be up most of night so if you need an ear or whatever, call my cell (724) 493-6426. I'm serious and I will answer. Be safe and keep us posted here if you get a chance. Ed

I feel very bad about all the devistation in the South over the last few months. It's just saddening to see the pics on TV (weather channel). I used to drive thru the Joplin area and on to Tulsa and Oklahoma City then on out to the West coast. It always seemed like Oklahoma had the worst weather all year long. I'm thankfull and feel lucky to not have these hardships. I can only wish the best for all those folks who have lost everything.

I read where you guys have been talking about the Quarter Pound Duncans. I just today finished up my 08 Jazz with the "3's" and a set of Rotosounds 45-105. Tweeked the neck for a little more relief and did set up and intonation. The bass is really sounding much better than it did to me . Lot's more power but hasn't lost any of the smoothe tone it had. That's the wood coming into play. I love the rotos. When I was young I played the rotos alot harder than I do now. I don't play so hard now and the strings don't eat my frets like they used to. I've only ever had a refret on my 74 P bass and I've had the rotos on everything since about the mid seventies. The guy who did my frets did a great job and I believe it was only around 150 bucks for Jumbo's. So..... that being said I just never cared about frets. That's just me though.
I guess I should maybe check out the chromes once and see what the buzz is all about with the spb3's. Right?

I have cousins in Tulsa. As many times as I drove thru there I never stopped to find them. I wish I would have now. Haven't seen them since 1964-5.

I lived in Ft Lauderdale for awhile and I lived in the Tampa area a while longer. I remember the lightning. Lightning hit a tree outside where I lived and cut about a 3 inch strip all the way down the tree and into the ground. I was there during Hurricane Andrew. An experiance I could have done without.

Good stuff. Pass it on. Maybe we should all abuse ourselves more so we can live longer. Wait. It must have worked for me.
