Hi guys,

I'm in need of a little help... any advice, pointers, or wisdom-sharing would be greatly appreciated.

A little background - I picked-up an injury a couple of years ago, which shows no sign of improvement... and, with a house-move and job-change imminent, I've decided to sell my bass gear.

I bought the Jazz in question about 5/6 years ago, second-hand, from a guy I'm no longer in contact with... In order to sell the bass, I realise I'd have to prove it's identity, origin etc - I had it taken apart to view the I.D numbers inside of the neck pocket, and, after some online searching, I'm none-the-wiser... I realise that some of you folks will be much more clued-up on some of the tell-tale features, and would really appreciate any help...

The neck's identity is clear, it's just the body I'm not so sure of... it's a String-through design, with a 4-bolt neckplate.... I'll attach a link to a pic of the Neck Pocket - which has the following text : ''Oct 27 1999'' ''53287'' - and a ''3'' sort-of Engraved - There are also a few extra drill-holes, and a larger routed cavity too (I'm not sure if they're indicative of it's identity, just thought I might aswell mention as much detail as possible.)

Again - a huge 'Thank you' to anyone who can provide any insight... don't panic, whatever the result I'll be happy - I just need to tie-down it's identity so that any potential buyers can make a properly informed decision - I'm aware that body identification can be tricky, but even if we can get a general consensus for what it might be, I'd be really thankful.

Also, if any further pics would help (Possibly of the routing under the pickguard,) let me know & I'll happily take some more

Thanks

Rich

it says 1999 right there in the pocket. That would lead me to believe that's what it is. From the little bit I could see of it (whole bass) it looks like my 99. Show me some pics-- what is the serial #?

Thanks for the replies, guys...

The bass is parts-built, and has an AllParts neck... it's just the body I'm trying to identify - I wondered whether the String-through design, the numbers inside of the Neck Pocket, or the amount/placement of holes inside of the Neck Pocket were at all indicative of it's place of origin (whether it's Mexican, Japanese, or American made,) or the model type...

Thanks again,

Rich

Mine looked just like that and it was a 1999 USA Jazz----NOW maybe there is something about the factory build that would be known by someone as to wether or not the body came from so and so and was put together in so and so and called a USA-- you know how that goes. Someone always knows something I don't. I leave that up to whoever.

A complete picture of all the sides/angles/any identifying features would be helpful,a Fender neck pocket usually has identifying features of some type whether a name stamped in the pocket, sometimes a model(p or j bass)the date usually is penciled on the but of the neck(I said but..huh,a'huh)sorry  , post more pics that should eventually allow one of pro's to get a fix on its origi  n
