Hey guys/gals. Does anybody have any experience with installing an active pickup into a bass with stock passives and running both? Here's the situation: I have a great Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass but I'm looking to make it a little more versatile. I have an old bass laying around that has an active Ambelic P-Bass (split coil) pickup. So last night I took the Ambelic pup out and I'd like to install it in the neck position of my J-Bass while keeping the single coil in the bridge position. And I'd like to do this with as little modifications as possible. I know I'll have to route out the pickup cavity and I'm HOPING that I can fit the battery into the control cavity. But as far as wiring and the pots go... I'm stumped. Any advice?

Thanks.

Why don't you try running a "outboard preamp, (Sadowsky, Aguilar, the new Seymour Duncan outboard preamp and these are just a few ) so if you're not digging the sound, you didn't route away your axe !, now with that being said personaly, I think all a good 70's type bass needs is a boost only preamp, however a 70's bass tone is what it is.
