Can't see the neck plate first of all. They (whoever) make aftermarket neckplates with all diff kinds of numbers. The neckplate might very well be the easiest think to fake -- being as the aftermarket thing is going on--

+1

The number is formatted correctly.

But I can order up a dozen of those things in ten minutes and have them delivered on Wednesday.

Caveat Emptor!

Agree with Stroker and Rock Star. I bought a fake (as advertised) '62 plate for the hell of it to put on a Road Worn Jazz for $15.00. I can't tell the difference between the fake and the real '64 that's on my p-bass of same year, other than wear. On the other hand, there's a guy I've had very good dealings with that has some for sale from $229-$249. That seems like a lot even for a real one, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on authenticity because of past experience. But as it was said, caveat emptor.

Is the bass a real '64? I'll assume it is but obviously can't tell from the picture.

I have a few of them, real ones, and as far as one can tell from a photo, it looks like the real deal. I have seen a few copies, and they usually have issues with the font and the stamping "fingerprint". The reverse side is also quite unique on an original. Why are you doubting it's authenticity?
