it's a bad topic for most. I used the BadAss III on my 22 fretter. My '89. The other I have the BadAss II and a Gotoh 201.

Does the '89 and the '92 use the same bridge?

Not quite sure, but it's just the basic Fender bent metal bridge on most of our basses. Mine is not an MIA tho, it's a MIJ.

Why do you want to replace the bridge? Is it broken? Or are you looking for more sustain?

Some aftermarket bridges. especially Leo Quan bridges, usually require setup by a luthier with the right tools, particularly the correct saddle files and the experience to know how to use them. So you not only have to buy the bridge, but pay for a proper setup on your instrument by someone who knows they are doing. Sometimes even the "pre-slotted" ones require some filing to get as good playing a setup as you had with the stock bridge.

what's up brotherdave?

I did it honestly, cuz Steve Harris had the BadAss II. I always wanted it. Plus it looked nicer than the plain jane stock bridge. But like you told me, make sure a tech tune and do the intonation on the bass...I did. Also when I learned that supposedly it has superior tone, I was sold. Later I found out, my ears can't tell the difference. But I still love the looks of it. That's my piece :)

But didn't you get a bit more sustain?

I think I did, but from what I've always had said, my ears can't tell how much or if I lost any, how little. At first I thought I did. Now maybe I'm just used to it, I can't really tell.

Hi, I'm on the same page with ryno23c.

I've been looking to replace the bridge on mi "boner' jazz because the string spacing is fixed at 21mm... quite wide to my liking.

I have contacted a luthier here in London who is going to do the job for me with a Vintage style hipshot, I believe. My budget is under £100 including replacement and setup

Those 22-fret longhorn/deep cutaways are lovely basses, pitty they came with that wide bridge. but hey.. is there a 100% perfect bass out of the shelf that will suit your playing?

PS: I'll keep you posted with the results. I'm meeting the luthier next week.

M.

Only the Boner P-Bass came with that heavy duty bridge. has also fine tuners on it.

I wouldn't say so.

Mine is a Jazz bass dating somewhere between 89-94 and the bridge is quite different from the one in yours

Sorry it's not mine, Shelton's sold this bass to a happy customer.

Your Boner Jazz Bass employs a standard vintage-style bridge; it appears the previous owner swapped the stock 3-ply white guard for a replacement tort from WD Music.
