So I was clicking on a for sale link...it took me to eBay. I've not been on there for awhile, some prices are very reasonable for basses. But man, what is going on with some of the people selling used basses - 1 yr or so - more expensive than brand new?? I saw a Squier VM '70s Jbass for $319 as the buy it now price...nice  And I'm fine with certain used/classics are more than the brand new asking price, but not a 1 yr old Squier I guess. That's the rant...

Well to be positive, I'm thinking of taking my '99 apart and put on a new body. Well, there are some nice ones with a buy it now prices on there. Alder body, not painted. Can I just stain the body with wood stain and not paint the body, attached my neck and hardware/electronics? (Calling Sabre Lane :D) Basically, taking everything off the 99's body and put on the new body. The EMG on my '99 is plug and play anyway, so no soldering, do I have to ground the pup still?

I know, maybe this summer...since the EMG is plug and play, maybe I can do it. I wonder if I have to ground the pick up still? I guess I can ck it on mine when I take it apart then.

What do you mean by "ground the pickup" exactly?

Most of the EMG bass pickups are modular just plug everything together like the diagram says.

I don't know what model pickups you have, but most of them I've seen just plug together with solderless terminals. You can visit this link and find the diagram for your model. http://www.emgpickups.com/search/wiring

someone was telling to I had to make sure to ground the pick up...I never heard that, hence the question. My '99 has the new solderless pups. Thanks for the input brotherdave.

I just had a look at a couple of those diagrams and they don't say a thing about ground... I think I read somewhere that the negative post on the battery provides your ground, but I have never independently verified that, so check it out for yourself before listening to that.

That Warmouth Jazz body looks good for the price, but don't forget to include shipping when you're figuring on the total cost...

I have a friend that swears by tung oil for his body finishes.
If you ever get a scratch or a ding, you can sand it out and re-apply a few coats of oil and it looks brand new again... I haven't tried it myself, so your mileage may vary. Check it out. (Google is your friend.)

I think I'm going with the Warmoth body, keep front route and a battery box option. It comes out to $180 - not sure how much shipping is. I like the tung oil route also. I also like the fact you can stain these bodies (thinking walnut color). BTW I'm thinking of the alder then stain it dark - walnut. What do you think?

Ox, meds time buddy!! I feel like a freakin nurse with this guy

Man, I'm really jonesing for that Warmoth body now...Just the attraction of a nicer quality body and 'doing' it yourself has me all excited about it. I get what you said about the "master builder" thing, it's not about that. It's about extending the person that cut and finish the raw body to your own experience and creating something that's truly yours. And I will take your offer Sabe - in your thread - to play your HB 1, it'll be an honor brother!

Good Lord! You guys are almost at critical G.A.S.! Rez, take an Alka Seltzer or something! I think we haven't heard from gbass because he's rolling on the floor with demonic laughter.

He's corrupted us!

Enjoyed you post, Bob, it would be a Magic Bus with all of us on it, we won't tell Brother Dave we're coming, we'll just snatch him up. Imagine the surprise on Zod's  face when he sees us all standing in front of his house.

Don't forget! 9:00 E.S.T.
