Hi there,

Recently I bought second hand an amazing Jazz Bass 5 thought to be American Deluxe. It was advertised as that, and some of it´s features (single pole pickups, Gotoh tuning keys, 3 band EQ) made me easy about it´s origin. It´s serial number, according to Fender, is from Corona plant 96-97. However, an acquittance of mine pointed that, as far as he knows, the ones made around that time they were doing them only with block inlays, rather than dots, and the research I´ve done, so far, brought some contradictory info about it rather than a straight answer....
I have photos here:

Can someone give me hand with this?

Thanks!

Hi there,

indeed, this is a 1996 USA Deluxe Jazz. The serial on the neck says N6 = Ninety-six. Maybe the pickups had been changed. The one-pole magnets are also strange to me. The American Deluxe was only produced with dot inlays until 2010. I have the 2010 American Deluxe Jazz with black pearl inlays in Natural.

Have fun with yours!

Hi there,

Thanks, I checked with Fender Consumer Relations and they confirmed that it is an American Deluxe! On Wikipedia they say that for a limited time they mounted single-pole pick ups,("9V power supply and special-design stacked "single-pole" Jazz Bass pickups (designed by John Suhr)") and on the answer from Fender they say they are "New Design Jazz Bass V Humbucking Pickups", so I suppose they are the original ones!

Thank you!
