My new bass is sooo nice it sounds great and plays like a dream!I have the 50 th red jazz and a custom shop jazz as well and this bass kill's them both. The stacked knobs give me so many tones it's not funny!I work at a music store so I see a lot of basses and this one is got IT for shure.BUT I waited like 6 month's for it and it is covered with finish problem's the body was not buffed out at all it's foggy and still has wet sanding marks all over it.The bass is black so you see everything the bridge was put on to tight and the paint has lifted on the back corners, the control plate also was tighted to much and is also liftingthe paint, and the back plate as well was tighted to much and the paint is lifting.I think they rushed this bass out the door I don't care because I just play them and love them so It's no big deal.I showed the bass to the stores fender REP Because of the finish and he told me to send it back but the bass plays and sounds so nice I won't do it.
Every one should take a real good look at all the new product comming out of fender these days because it's being rush out to meet the demand! This bass streets for like 1800 to 1900 or more. If I wasn't working in the store I am and getting good deals this bass would have gone back.Make sure you are getting what you pay for!!!

Welcome and congrats on your new bass. It's always great to get a new one, especially one that fits well'

Too bad about the finish, if you want to see something bad, check out the American Specials, out of eight or so that I actually handled, the body on a white one was good and, the body on a sunburst was good. The necks on all weren't.

Enjoy your bass.

Why don't you just take it appart, and only send 7ender the body to refinish? Hell, if they"ll do it for free, %4#ck, I would have already sent it!

You got a great deal on it because of the paint, right! And the refinish is free? Sounds like a no brainer to me!

But it's YOUR bass..

Older Japanese basses rock!

Yes it is hit or miss with their quality control unfortunately. I have a '62 Jaco Tribute bass I got used. It was built in 2008, and it is perfectly made, fit and finish what you would expect on a $1700 instrument. I had a 2008 American Standard Jazz V bass in black, which I sold, and it was cosmetically shoddy. Don't get me wrong, the important stuff, like tone and playability, were all there. In fact the maple neck was one of the best 5 strings I've ever played, very nice B, great fret-work. But the finish was a bit swirly and hazy. Even worse you can see the seams where the wings attached to the center block for the 3 piece body. Not what I would expect on a $1299 guitar. I had a 1993 Squire Jazz Bass from Korea that was better built! Of course I don't get too hung up on perfection since to me these are tools. However they should be a little better about QC over there at the plant. Plus I wouldn't allow a car dearlership sell me a new car with flaws like that. For the price of Fender's American series there are a lot of other makers out in the market. Musicman and G&L come to mind, both Leo's children.
