If not limited to Jazz or Fender basses (which still have quite a large variety of colours), I'd say lighter colours. My first guitar was a Les Paul Special II, black (plain), which I loved, but after selling it I just got bored of black. Black is still beautiful, but I just got a new 5-string black bass (a bit abused) and I asked the store to trade it for a brand new, beautiful silver version. Before buying that one I wanted an "iron pewter" Ibanez bass, which is really gorgeous, though.

I also love the blue colour of my Jazz Bass, it's so beautiful to look at. I also have a thing for red guitars (my SG is red), and natural finishes such as one of the models of Jazz Bass. Is it in maple? I can't remember. Or the natural finish on either the Ibanez SR505 or SR5005. Wow, those are sexy basses!

Tobacco Burst has a brown base to it. Check the MIA G&L Basses on their site. The Tobacco Burst has really a nice look to it. Fender shows a Tobacco Burst on the color chart as well, but it is showing to red in the pic. The G&L I think is closer to the original Tobacco Burst.

Thanks, at least it's not like Gibson and the dif't burst colors...they are nice tho.
