I've been waiting a very, VERY LONG time for this bass, its the 2010 Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V!!! Fell in love with the sunburst ever since I've seen it. It's been delayed/backordered like 3 months already and I finally got it the yesterday! Sold my music man sting ray to acquire this baby and so far its worth. Spent a few minutes changing the stock strings to elixirs, tightening the tuners, cleaning/oiling the fretboard, lubricating the nuts and saddle and adjusting the action a bit. Plays like butter now.

The bass does feedback a lot when I switch over to active mode. It works fine and totally quiet as long as I play it through a noise gate. Thought about returning it but it plays and sounds way too nice. Considering how hard it is to find these in stores, and the fact that sending it back to fender for repair might take forever, I decided to just keep it. Might try and shielding it some day.

Heres my video of opening the Fender J Bass Deluxe!!:

Very Nice matey, I played one of the 4-string Natural maple neck versions in the Fender hut backstage at Sonisphere UK last summer, must say it was very nice indeed, at the time I was told I'd have to wait 5 months for one!

Thank you everyone, I've had this for 3 weeks now and I LOVE IT!! Best bass ever made by fender :)

On a side bar: the N3 picks STILL HUMS a bit when (especially louder when switching over to active mode). They are not completely silent as Fender advertising implies.

That bass is epic!! Perhaps you could get someone to look at the shielding?

my '89 hummed too when I had Fender electronics on it. Now it's silent w/the EMGs. Someone mentioned shielding, would shielding affect active electronics tho?
