Well can you? I wandered into a little store today and lo and behold! There was a Fender Jazz bass hanging on the wall. This place quit selling higher end gear a long time ago. It was used of course. She's (no name yet) a Mim Standard, sunburst with rosewood. Whoever had it put Schaller strap locks and changed the knobs to Precision type. Came with a cheap Fender gig bag, I have cases.

The only mark on it is a small ding on the neck about the third fret. Outside of a set-up it's good, sweet neck and great sound.

Anybody got a tortiseshell pickguard?

Someday I'll figure out how to put pictures on here.

There are no new Candy Apple Red American Standards, discontinued. I'm re-doing my Precision and that will be it for awhile at least. I was up in the middle of the night playing her, it's no American Standard but it has the growl and the unique Jazz bass sound. The pups are great, my Precision pup just sucks big time, not for long.

I talked to their tech about doing it all, pup, pots, jack. He said $40.00 and would have it back in two days. I think I'm going to go that route.

Thanks for posting the picture of her.

I've decided on a name; Omega

I want a tortiseshell pickguard (not sure which color yet, there is a variety out there) and pup and bridge covers. I'm not sure about the bridge yet. it's kind of flimsy.

That's what's bugging me, you said that earlier, maybe the newer ones have the better bridges, my new Jazz is over a year old, perhaps before the bridges got better? The bridge on my Precision is good and it's almost 4 years old or so.

They cut corners on the Standards to upgrade the American Standards, while it is frustrating, I can understand why they do what they do. Fender is a business, they still make guitars but, guitar people don't run them anymore. I'd be willing to say that 80% of the decision makers don't even play.

The whole country is like that now and the one common thread running through everything is, make it cheaper and disposable.

General Zod, we need a picture, please. I promise I won't be trading any more. :)

An upgrade may be in the future, I'm upgrading the electronics, in entirety, on my Precision in a few days. I doubt if I go BadAss, I think it would be Fender, time will tell.

Debate or no debate, I've heard enough about the Bass bridge to say, I won't get one. There is one resident expert, who I respect tremendously, that came out against them.

Don't get me started on the American Specials again, might as well bring up Roadworn too and why they took J.J. off of Criminal Minds.

As far as J.J., really dumb move canning the character. As far as manufactured goods, what can I say, you said it all. Sad state of affairs.

Not to start a war, since the resident expert Ox is talking about I respect a lot. The BadAss is sweet, looking, and maybe even in tone. No one had proven it's not, but preference they all say it doesn't. I like the look regardless. The Gotoh bridge is easier to set up, but lets face it, the BadAss does have a nicer look. Well that's out of the way ;)
Nice bass Ox, get the tort or white pearloid, it'll look sweet. As far as JJ, she opt out for caring for her child and will comeback every now and then.

Let there be war. We have General Zod who will lead us in glorious victory against the barbarian oppressors who would sully our shores. Whatever the $%&@ that means.

That whole J.J. thing was just wrong, they want to get rid of Prentiss too, somebody should go Charley Sheen on them!

Ha, we should have General Zod address them!

Thanks Rez,
I'm looking to go with a tort with a lot of the big yellow chunks in it, our RE suggested that and I think I like it.
