Swizeet bass. Man I'm itching for a new bass!!!! I like the D-lux, I'm picturing the smell when the case is opened. Or maybe I'm imagining the smell-- whatever-- that bass is nice. The Jazz D-lux's have evolved nicely since 97 of which I had one and it was so top heavy it weren't funny.

BTW- the Top Secret serial # is way cool!!!!!

The Hipshot tuners sure do help balance the weight nicely, Strapped on it sits perfectly and at 8.36lbs (according to previous owner) its one of the lightest basses Ive ever played let alone owned, Very happy with it :D

Yeh- if you have a light bass AND is sounds excellent too--- you really have something there. I've had them both ways. I prefer the light/good sound ones.

Thanks all.
The more time I'm spending with this bass the better it keeps getting, I don't think Ive had the EQ in the same place twice yet, its possibility's are seeming endless.
Still figuring out the mids on it , in one word .. fierce

The weight of a bass is something i cant say that Ive ever payed any attention to before, at a guess id say that my Stingrays are in the 10+lbs area so it feels strange playing something that feels light but doesn't sound light (if that makes sense :? )

If you are used to Stingrays then everything else is going to feel light!! HA! I did the MM thing and was frustrated about the G string thing. I had three-- one Stingray and two Sterlings. Very well made basses.

some people had weak output on the G string side of the bass on MM basses IIRC. Didn't they (Ernie Ball) solve the issue and actually had dealers fix the problem?

You are lucky then. I had three --2001-2 Sterling 4h. 2006-7 Stingray 4hh, 2010 Sterling 4hs. The 2010 was the best one although it had a bit of the old G thing. The other two were just a let down.
At our gigs while playing I would go to the G string to play a note and the volume difference between any note on the G and all other notes--- it was like I turned down the bass to 1/2 of what it was. I need to have volume from the G string.
I tried everything and even got yelled at by Sterling Ball because I posted about it too much on the MM sight. What a guy!!!!
To fix it, all I could come up with was to spend 300 bucks on a new better EQ'd aftermarket board. That's all the farther I wanted to go with it. I was fed up and sold/traded the basses. I ended up with the 08 Jazz, the Geddy, and another one. Hey- I came away happy and have some basses I really like and no more "lost G".

I DID say in my previous post that the MM's are very well made guitars. So that should keep the haters off me I hope. I will say that some of the MM user bassist guys are pretty hard core Nazi strong arm jack boot loyalists!!! OUCH!!! maybe that was a little harsh. NOT!!!! HA!!!!! :D :D :D three smiley faces- one for each string!!!!! HA! I kill me!
