Anybody see the maple top j bass that musician's freind is offering? real maple top not photo flame. It has a "Ghost Paisley" pattern on the top. Why? Isn't the burled maple top enough? I guess it doesn't matter because how many people are going to shell out $6K for one. Has anyone here bought one or seen one in person?

Thanks for the link.

It's a very nice looking bass. Interesting treatment. Personally I wouldn't spend that kind of money on any guitar unless it were a very collectable model that would surely appreciate over time.

It's a Custom Shop J-Bass with ghost paisley graphics over a fancy quilted maple top and alder back. This gorgeous bass was hand-crafted by Senior Master luthier Mark Kendrick.

Musician's Friend lists this bass with a 22-fret neck, though it's wrong. The picture clearly shows the instrument with a 20-fret neck which is a standard feature on many Fender basses.

Yeah the maple top is beautiful I just don't get why they would put a ghost paisley image on such a nice piece of wood? Some photos show the paisley image but the bass looks great when you can't see it. I would consider looking into one if, it didn't have the paisley image & it was more moderatly priced.

It's a nice looking bass. Your original post reminds me of similar sentiments that I had about Ibanez putting out a Gerald Veasley model Soundgear 6 for $6 grand. It's nothing against Ibanez I like their basses but if I had 6 grand I could name about 12 other makes I would buy before that.

If you go to the link I posted a few replies above it will take you to the listing at musician's Friend. One of the photos shows the paisley ghoast. I don't get it!
