Fender recently launched a Blacktop series of guitars with a pair of huge-sounding humbuckers.

My only gripe is that the series lacks off bass guitars.

I've posted a thread about a Blacktop Precision, it's now the time to start a new thread for the Blacktop Jazz.

I think a Blacktop J-Bass would be a modified Aerodyne with dual Seymour Duncan Basslines humbuckers, black hardware, skirted amp knobs, all-black hardware, an HMV bridge, a bound maple neck with black blocks and three controls for master volume, pickup pan and master greasebucket tone.

I will post another thread for the Blacktop Jaguar Bass later.

I like the idea, but not with the skirted knobs. I'd rather have the 'tophat' knobs. I like the rest of the idea tho Chrome :)

I think this is a great idea. I would make one suggestion. If Fender was to do this, they should pull out all the stops and either put in the double jazz pickups like the one on the old p/j specials, or (even better) Nordstrand fat stacks. A big sound to match a bold look.

Perhaps they could use the wide range humbuckers that were used on the limited run custom shop Tele bass?
