I read an article in Bass Player a while ago about "The Bass of Doom", Jaco's Jazz Bass being found and authenticated by Jaco's bass tech who identified every Joint from every repair and even the flame Maple top and back that he put on to cover up that the body had split.

I also know from my reading that Fender's Jaco Pastorious Jazz bass is based on the specs of the parts as Jaco's bass was a bit of a Frankenstein.

It makes me wonder if Fender is going to measure and analyze Jaco's actual bass and make a new Jaco model Jazz to the specs of the original.

Stay Brown,
Rev J

Interesting, I thought the guy from Metallia owned it.

Brother Dave, if you read this let us know what the deal is.

I too heard that Trujillo had it, apparently with plans to return it to Jaco's family at some point...

I like the looks of the "restored" bass of doom, and wouldn't mind seeing Fender do something similar.
