I just snagged a honey blonde highway 1 jazz w/a rosewood fretboard & i want to spice up the plain white pickguard. Any suggestions of complementary colors or styles?

My JB's color is Vintage White, which is kind of close to your color. Here's a tortoise shell pick guard:

+1 on the tortoise-shell.

Black 3-ply also looks pretty dramatic.

Tort's always good! I want to get a tort for my '99 but I'll wait till summer. I hear it's tough to get a JB pick guard? Is that true? I usually not a fan of pg, but I don't like the white I have even more, and to go pg less like my VM, there's a hole where I don't want to see it, so pick guard it is.

I have since changed this to an all black pg. I like it better like that, but have no photos yet.
The tort pg is from Stew-Mac, I dremel'd the truss rod notch.

The early blond jazz basses (1960s) had tortise shell guards & in the 1970's Fender changed to black on the blonds. I guess it's personal preference but I will always prefer tort over black.

Hey Josh, welcome to the forums...post pix of your bass. I'm torn between the tort - midnight wine is my '99's color - or the pearloid. I'm stuck on the pearloid.
