Hello everyone. Just bought a 70's j bass and neck cracked, took it to a service center and Fender will waranty it. (thank you). But lead time is 60 days per fender. Is that cause of production? I'm a little nervous it will get lost in the mix and be longer than 60 days. Any advice? Thanks.

Sometimes dealing with the delay you can just rely on patience - a virtue I've learned as I get older. They are going to fix it, it might take longer. But they are going to handle it. Good luck!

So anyone know if they just manufacture different lines, and I have to wait till they get back to making the 70's jazz bass line? Why would it take 60 days? Can I call fender? I guess I need to work on my patience.

Yes you do need to work on your patience.
60 days for a factory repair job is almost a miracle these days. I needed to buy a replacement bridge for my Telecaster. And the fastest the dealer could get the parts from Fender was at least 60 days.
If you are gonna "jones" while your baby is gone, then I suggest you either borrow one to get you through. Or better yet, get a Squier model as a back up.
They will replace your neck with one that is the same spec as your original neck. And I doubt that they will have any '70's necks laying around.
I have a '72 Jazz that I bought brand spankin' new in Jan 1973. The same age as my wonderful daughter. My pick-ups failed in the '80's when the magnets went dead. And I didn't get no warranty. But I was too busy to make a fight out of it. So I just bought new ones that sounded just the same and moved on. But a broken neck is completely different. Don't forget to insure the package when you ship it.

Your 1972 Jazz Bass only came with a one year warranty, so you were SOL in the eighties!

You did the right thing . Buying replacement pickups for that bass was the thing to do.

Just know that the Fender "lifetime or 5 year "warranty didn't happen until the late 90's.

I think.

Somebody will be along to correct me if I am wrong. LOL
