He sure does fj...good, reliable, affordable amps. He stands behind it too. If I would upgrade I think I'd go with the Hydrive 4x10 and 1x15...plus the 1000w head :D But I live in real life, so I'll keep what I have

Thinking of trading for one?

Seems that the better equipment has the same characteristics, one of them being touchy controls, in a good way. Wide range of possibilities.

That's the best part of new toys, discovery.

Glad you're having a good time.

My Hartke head has touchy controls too. I went to the music store after work today - got done @ 1045 :D - tried out the 60's JBass, not too impressed. Then I tried the SRX 500, nice bass, bright tone, lovely fretboard. I also tried a used HWY1 Pbass - '03. I really liked it, nice action. Big gash in the back tho. Plus this one was before the BAII bridge. Yeah, yeah, I know the debate, but I luv the BadAss bridge. Even without the supposedly better/superior claim, I like the way it looks.

Wow, this is why I luv talking to older people than my self. The rich history and knowledge you bestow upon us ignorant young fools (I my self am no spring chicken, less than 3 yrs to 40). When I started playing with a band back in HS, I went thru that stage of mic'ing the bass amp even...then it slowly went to the PA system. Now some kids don't even bring any amps for their basses to gigs  Ah those old times of back breaking just to play 25 minutes on stage with your lads :D Kustom sounds really good, till Ampeg came around then? Thank you for the history lesson fj, really awesome....and those speaker choices...DAMN!

world was changing, fall of Soviet Union and the Communist Bloc was my time in HS. I graduated in '91. Shortly after that college. Historic changing times...and it feels like we're in historic changing times again. Hopefully the light is coming soon at the end of this tunnel.

Yeah us old guys remember all kinds of good things, the invention of the light bulb, the first airplane, 10 cent comic books, 15 cent McDonalds hamburgers.

I graduated in 1969, you're right Glenn, it was the best of times.

Born 1972, graduated 1990; the 1990's were the best. Well, 1990-1997.
I found some old pics earlier today from a time in my life when I had the world in front of me, and I feel that I pissed it away.

No pics=no memories.

Had to do that! :D

I can't remember ever meeting anyone who didn't feel that way to some degree.

Just remember: "The what ifs will kill ya!"

Great pic of your '69 and the amps. For some odd reason, Kustoms were looked down on in this area. I was Fender snob even then, two Bassman's. I bought a Kustom recently and am very happy with it.

Florida without air conditioning, that had to be brutal. we didn't have air either but it wasn't that bad here in the great white north. I can't imagine not having air now,Woke up today to snow, again!

Man, we really got off topic, it did turn into a good thread, all these youngsters, sitting on the floor while the old guys talk. :P

What a great thread....walking down memory lane, as I read you guys! I still remember how tweaked I was the day I went to the candy store with a quarter in my pocket, planning to score two comic books and a few pieces of Bazooka bubble gum...only to discover that comics had gone up from ten to twelve cents apiece!

That was my personal introduction to the concept of inflation!

And as I read back through the thread to the discussion of Kustom amps back in the day....this was taken in 1972 (and that was my very first Fender - a 1969 P Bass):

Kustom 200 top, pair of cabs, each containing 2 10's and 2 15's....thems was the days, indeed!
That's an awesome picture pbassbob! Looks like a groovy shirt too! :P

I an only imagine. Your track record only enforces your statements. It has to be rough having so many men envy you. :)
