Hey guys!

I just came across an '05 American Deluxe in Candy Tangerine at a local Ma & Pa music store. What a beautiful color. And it was new.

Can someone tell me more about this color; when it was introduced, when it was discontinued, that sort of thing?

Ok, so maybe that was a stupid question.

Anyway, after getting it home, lacing a new set of hi beams on it and installing new batteries I have to say WOW!

I always kinda stayed away from Fenders, if only because it seems everyone has one. Now I see why. I've had 2 or 3 over the years, couldn't tell you if they were Mexican or Japanese, and an Aerodyne more recently but none of them really did much for me. They didn't seem any better than anything else. But after getting this American Deluxe home and plugging it in and playing around, I have to say it is one of the finest instruments I have ever held. I have been holding out for an active bass and have looked at everything from Ibanez to Carvin (which I really like) to the Guitar Center off brand (Dolphin I think, which by the way for the price are really nice). But I happened to stumble across this Fender at a local guitar shop and what grabbed me first was the color. Then I realized it was active and then the brain really started spinning. I had found what I was looking for but never thought it would be a Fender. The tone is amazing and versatile and the feel is like butter. I should have had one of these years ago.

I would like to apologize to Fender and all the Fender lovers out there who I never gave an honest chance. I have over 20 years of catching up to do for possessing the ignorance of avoiding a popular brand for foolish reasons. There is a new Fender believer in town. I'm just sorry it took so long!

Hehe I hear ya. When I first went to buy my first proper bass I was set on warwick, nothing else! Fenders were too common! etc etc.

Then I played a proper one...and wow! I still want that warwick one day but Ive never heard a bass tone better than the growl my MIA Jazz bass makes!

Back in '95 I told myself after buying the Fender Urge (Stu Hamm sig) I was done with buying Fenders. Then all I bought were Ibanez basses (SoundGear 6 string, BTB, ATK, SoundGears). Then I started playing my old Fenders, and I was just in love again with 'em. There are nicer basses out there, more expensive, better built, but I don't know, that's all I look at anymore are Fenders again - Squiers included. Weird. I've gotten rid off all the Ibanez basses now, I wouldn't mind having a Prestige SoundGear or Prestige BTB now, but it'll be awhile before I can afford one again. Maybe one day a Claro Walnut series Carvin 4 stringer, but for now my '87, '93 accoustic, and my '07 Squiers are all I have (left) and they do ok by me. :)
