What would be the main difference in sound if I were to run my strings through the body vs running my strings through the bridge? Thanks for the info!

Mainly down to personal preference, some say more sustain from stringing through the body but in my experience the difference is marginal.

Any difference would likely not be noticeable.

My 01 SB Jazz can only be strung thru the body. It's really hard to find Extra Long Roto's where I live. I ordered some 9 months ago and the guy at the shop never got them in. I think string thru is good. People tell me the 01 sounds really good.
It has to do with the angle of the string into the body behind the saddle and the pressure on the saddle as apposed to stringing in the back of the bridge. The body acts as the sounding block , not the back of the bridge. Have you noticed the large sounding blocks on the back of some of those fat bridges you can buy? Now the body does that job when you string thru. I kind of like it.

I string through the body to keep the ferrules from falling out. They are hard little buggers to find when the get loose.
