That is one gorgeous Jazz Bass. Fender was making great basses during the CBS years even though they didn't get any respect when they were new.

I love that color combo, White or blonde with a tortoise shell guard and a rosewood neck.

Very nice bass.

Yes; BCbassman you are a man of taste. I feel the same way. I also have a 1966 Precision Bass in Olympic White tort guard & rosewood board. Maybe some people go for the flashy Candy Apple Red or Lake Placid Blue but white & blond have always done it for me. Sometime I'll take a photo of it & post it. Maybe I'd have to do the pair so I can put it on the Jazz board & the PBass board too. I'd like to od a nice outdoor shot but not with the cold temps & tons of snow we have!

Actually my 1966 P-Bass although very clean with tags is not as rare as this blond Jazz. There seems to have been alot of Fender Basses (& Possibly guitar but I don't look at guitars much) were produced with Olympic White finsihes with tortise guards. Seems like it was a popular combo thoughout the 1960's. I see blond see though finish rarely.

I was always a P-Bass player but I bought a 1969 blonde jazz bass recently & It sounded great. Near Mint rare translucent blonde over ash with rosewood block pearloid inlays. Too nice to play out. So I purchased a decent MIM to take around & not worry about a ding or dent. It doesn't have the same sound as the '69 lacks the punch. The '69 was a closet case so I don't think the guy touched it. I think it was bought the guy took a few lessons & then it just sat. Any ideas if custom shop pickups would make a difference or an old set (guys ask crazy money for vintage parts). Any input appreciated for a relatively new Jazz player.
Dude if I were you I'd leave those pickups alone, because even the CS 62 pups ain't better than those, hell even if you change them out to lollars, Novaks or Nordstrands they're still not as good as the real deals.....and don't let anybody else tell you different...I've tried all of these cats and all of them make a great product that sounds CLOSE !!! but that's what they are close, however supprisenly I found that the Seymour Antiquity II's sounded the closest to my original 68 pickups than all of those.
YMMV
