Hello.

I'm new to Fender Basses and of couse the forum. I've been playing for many years, but I've never played Fender basses until now. I'm 30 yrs. old and from Denmark.

I've got a question regading Serial Numbers.

I have been getting an offer to get a Fender '62 Vintage Reissue Jazz Bass fairly cheap.

I would like to know if any forum nerds :P could help me indentifying which country this model origins.

The number is V1007485

Thanks in advance

MHP

...By the way. I don't have pictures yet.

Just want to know if it's American or Japanese.

Check Fender.com's support pages for serial number and dating guides.

A 62 Vintage Reissue Jazz bass with a serial number that begins with a V is a USA made instrument as long as the body is the original one that came with the bass.

You can consult the specifications for your bass at Fender.com to make sure that it is the real thing.

Have fun playing it.

V****** it is 1996-1998 model I think, the first and second number after the letter is the month when it has made. the 3rd and fourth is the day. this is base on the made in japan I am more familiar with japan because my Fender Jazz bass is made in Japan..and I recently sold one last year a 1993-94 model jazz bass for only $388.88...anyways
Check this out bro. for you your reference...

I noticed that the serial you have posted has 8 digits including the letter.
Just check this out as well.

I have to amend my earlier answer. I own a Japanese made Fender Jazz bass that has a serial number beginning with a V.
It is on the base of the neck unlike the neck plate serial number that would be on a true USA Vintage reissue.

Please note that the location of the number and weather it is on the neck plate is very important in determining what bass you have.

Good luck with it.
