Hi Everyone,

I've never posted on here before: I play a 'P' with La Bella FS flats and always post on the 'P' forum.

Quick question (or two, please).

I play Country (Kenny Rogers/Kris Krist'/Glen C/Charlie Pride) and Bryan Adams, Eagles, Bob Seger, etc.

I've only just watched videos of these guys and it seems that MOST of them (leaving aside Bryan Adams) tend to favour the 'J' over the 'P'.

Have I got this right?

Can you (and do these guys) get that thick, rich, fat, warm, smooth, full, juicy, round, deep bass with a massive yet clear and defined bottom with a Jazz bass and not a Precision?

If so, do they tend to use flats like the La Bellas on their 'J' basses, too?

Many thanks everyone.

There are a lot of things that influence sound. I'm using Super Slinkies on my Precision at the moment and still get a nice low thump. With my Bassdriver at different settings I can go pretty much anywhere in regard to tones and low end quality. Turning up the treble takes it to a new dimension.

Amps make a huge difference too, depending on how you use them.

I don't think you're wrong at all, the name of the game is, experiment and learn to hear what you're playing. No matter what you play, no matter how you play it, it's got to come from the inside to be right. Your biggest critic should be you as well as, you being your own biggest fan.

Learn to be satisfied.

Just for the record, I'm never totally satisfied. I get real close most of the time but, I'm always looking to get better.

i get a very nice country sound out of my J... i play with DR Black Beauties, dial the tone down and slightly favour the front pickup.....
