Hi, guys I just bought a bass on ebay
and I got it today
nothing seems wrong with it but I know there can be some fakes/parts guitars on ebay and I just wanted to check mine with you guys.

its a Fender Jazz bass from the 80's the E+6 number serial means its from 84-87 I believe

The only place ive found a serial number is on the headstock and I was wondering if there was anywhere else
-no numbers in the control area
- no numbers on the inside of the neck pocket of the body (you can see where there are faint numbers at one point all I can make out is B and 55)
- on the inside of the neck heel it says JB-355 in the bottom middle and on the bottom left corner it says Z (maybe) and on the bottom right corner (P)
- there is no number on the metal plate on the back of the neck
- pick guard has 11 screw holes if that matters (one is in the middle) it also has two holes (that go no where) on either side of the neck pickup in the pickguard

also can anyone tell me what the markings on the neck mean?

I didnt take out the pickups however

You have a 1986 Japanese made Jazz bass. I can tell from the smaller tuner barrels and the serial number.
These are nice basses but they don't command the respect of a USA made bass. They are very nice in their own right.

I cannot tell you what the markings on the neck mean. I would assume that they are production codes of some sort used in the Japanese factory that built the bass. (duh!)

Have fun playing your bass. They sound great and are easily adjusted to play beautifully.
