I was thinking about getting a pickup switch in my jazz, and I was wondering three things.
1.Has anyone here done this?

2.Does anyone have a diagram to wire such a thing so as to keep the standard v-v-t configuration? Anything I've come across so far has been for if you were replacing the neck volume pot with a switch, and just having master volume and tone, which isn't what I want.

3.Has anyone got any suggestions as to where to place the switch?

1. I have.

2. There are two ways you can wire it using your plan. One is where you can raise and lower the volume of one pickup where it doesn't affect the volume of the entire circuit (as you have now) and the other way is, if you have both pickups on, lowering the volume of one pickup will affect the entire circuit. Which way do you prefer? Also, do you plan on using a Fender type switch or a Gibson type?

3. I would put it on the lower horn near the tip of the pickguard or below the G string on the pickguard in a straight, equidistant line from your current controls.

I'm assuming this would only apply in the middle position?
Also I was going to use a gibson style switch.

Not necessarily. How would you like your bass wired, just like it is now but with a toggle or otherwise?

In hindsight I probably should have said this in the original post.

First Position-Just the bridge pickup with its volume and tone.
Second-Both pickups, the way they is as standard.
Third-Just the neck with its volume and tone.

Go here:

http://www.dominocs.com/AshBassGuitar/W ... ibson.html

Go to the bottom of the page and follow the last diagram there entitled, "Flying V Fifties Style Wiring With Independent Volume Controls".

Enjoy!
