I see that a new MiM Hamilton is due at GC about Dec 29th, and have to ask a question.

I wonder if the screw holes for the bridge cover are already drilled into the body?

I was all hot to buy a Markus Miller even though the neck didn't please me and I passed on it - but I noted that GC had the p'up cover on it while it was hanging from the hook.

I called GC later on the enxt day and asked if the cover wasn't just inside the box with the bass and if so, why did GC install it? They said the holes were pre-drilled and they completed finishing the bass before they displayed it.

That's just wrong in my eyes on several layers. I want the option to drill and install what I want, and not what the factory thinks I might want.

OK, all well and good - but I sincerely hope that there are NO HOLES in the Reggie Hamilton for the bridge cover. It will be a deal killer.

Does anyone know about this policy?

For what it's worth, the stock RH Jazz as shown on this site does not have screw holes nor mention a bridge cover.

I should offer an explanation: I got a new PG for a RH and it has the holes for the neck p'up (Precision-style) cover drilled in it.

That may be some sort of fluke or a wrong part on my behalf - but it was sold to me as a tort replacement for the black PG on the RH - so that's where I am confused.

as fretless5 said the Reggie Hamilton does NOT come with bridge or neck pick up covers when bought new. The Marcus Miller almost always has the neck pick up cover on it since this is the way MM plays it. I agree with you I don't like holes drilled into a new bass even if they come with PU covers.

I have a Jaco fretless which comes with a tort pickguard which gives me the option to drill holes in the body if I ever wanted to install it which I won't since it would hurt the resale value.

When you said "a new MIM Hamilton is due at GC about Dec 29th"
Are you meaning Fender´s changing the RHamilton MIM introducing an improved model?.
In that case I will wait for,
Thanks for replying.
