Not just the 8250Ms though - THE WHOLE LINE!!!

As I understand it from a very reliable source, Martin isn't making strings for Fender any more and the string-making facility in Mexico never really panned out.

With D'A making (some/all/most) of them for Fender now - and somehow I don't believe that D'A is being put on the Indonesian and Chinese basses - the current crop of Fender strings are all over the place for quality and metallurgy.

Every bass I've bought this year (four so far, but the year's not over yet) has reportedly had Fender 7250 NPS strings on it and none of them are from the same manufacturer.

Most of the strings sent on the new basses were junk with one glaringly different set that are GREAT!

The ones on my VM-Jaguar are the best Fender strings ever and I will indeed be sad when they die.

...........then I am going to install Rotosound RS45s for some consistency in quality, tone and application.

Fender would do very good to just buy Roto strings and put them on their basses in the first place. I'm sure it would be a good thing for both companies and cut the moaning over the lack of QC on the whole line of Fender strings.

DR makes tapered B&E strings. They sound better and last longer than the Fenders even if they cost more.

Amen on the Rotosounds. I've been playing them for years. Nothing compares.
